Literature is generally seen as more academically rigorous. It's the traditional subject. It really will depend on the university and course as to whether they disapprove. Your other subject choices will be important in this.

Whilst it may well be that English Literature is more difficult than Language (which I would agree with), the fact of the matter is that as far as Universities are concerned, it is your grades that matter, not the subject.
